Besides opening up shop this past October, which we are incredibly thankful and thrilled to finally see come together, fall has been full of wonderful adventures, beautiful back road drives and of course some yummy pumpkin beer.
Last Sunday was one of those perfect ‘so-happy-I-live-in-New-York’ kind of days that needed to be full of winding roads and vast mountainous views.
We jumped on the opportunity to take a Hudson Valley drive through the Shawangunk Mountains to our destination, Hudson Woods, that was equally as beautiful and stunning to tour.
Architect and creative brains behind the project, Drew Lang, was there to guide us through his vision and help us get a better understanding of what Hudson Woods is all about.
Lang Architecture strives “to create authentic, meaningful experiences at every turn” and that is exactly how we felt while touring the newly built home.
The smell of freshly cut white oak perfumed the air as soon as you walked through the door. It is the kind of scent that never gets old and should be bottled up and made into a candle immediately.
The delicate sound of crackling wood and a feeling of warmth emanated from the wood stove burning in the living room with cozy wool blankets ready to be curled up in.
Each and every corner we turned had unique elements that were perfectly placed to make you feel as if you were in your own home. A place you could see yourself watching winter turn to spring, spring to summer, and summer to fall.
The 131-acre property is split up into 26 different lots, each ranging from 2.7 to 12 acres and is full of heavy, natural wooded areas. The modern yet rustic styled homes are 2,800 square feet with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a garage/studio for you to make into your own creative escape.
What we loved so much about the project is that each lot is left as much in its’ natural state as possible. Sustainability is extremely important to Hudson Woods and all “26 architect-designed dwellings are meticulously crafted from locally sourced, sustainable materials.”
Not only do they build the homes in an eco-concious manner but focus their esthetics around that concept as well. From using local artisans to build custom furniture (BEAUTIFUL custom furniture might we add!) to adding extra upgrades and services such as solar and wind energy systems, gardens and green houses.
They will even build your very own tree house to enjoy!
If you are so lucky to be an owner of one of these lots, Hudson Woods makes creating your beautiful back country escape pretty simple and in 7 months time!
They start you off with a base model with hand-crafted finishes such as mahogany windows, oak flooring, paneling, doors and cabinetry, along with solid bronze hardware, concrete countertops and cedar siding and decking.
After you select a tile color and outdoor finish color, the fun begins!
If you decide you want a 3rd floor for guests or love to cook and need a few extra kitchen cabinets they are happy to accommodate.
The house upgrades and additional services like wood stoves to keep you warm in the winter as well as a nice swimming pool to keep you cool in the summer create the perfect setting to enjoy your home year-round.
They also offer beekeeping, food shopping and chef services as well as pet care and personal training!
House and property maintenance is available at your convenience if you are not always in the area and need a little extra help with upkeep.
Happen to have an electric car?
Hudson Woods can install a charger in your garage to make sure you always have enough power to get on the road for your next adventure!
Seeing a wonderful project like Hudson Woods create “26 paths to better living” is truly inspiring and we can only hope to live in a place like this one day!
